Fake it till you make it?
I don't know how many people threw this horrible piece of advice out to me while I was building my company. Fortunately, I never listened to it and chose integrity and authenticity instead.
I think we all fall victim to this mentality though. We live in a society that measures worth based on the number of followers and likes we get on social media. The fact that being an influencer is a job speaks volumes to how pesona is more important than the actual person.
Of course, being fake often results in very short lived successes as the truth always seems to have its day.
John 14:6 in the Amplified Bible says, Jesus said to him, “I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
Interestingly enough, almost every interpretation of the Bible says the exact same thing. It's very consistent.
Jesus was not fake. He was so authentic that His words are literally the way, the TRUTH, and the life. Think about that. No a way, truth, and life, but the way. The only way.
We are all flawed. We all have things in our lives that we are not necessarily proud of. Unfortunately, our instinct is to keep those portions of our lives hidden, until it's too late and the truth comes out, often causing more damage to how people view us, than if they knew the truth.
Do not fake it until you make it, because you won't. There is only one measure of success and that is how we live our lives in God's eyes. Be real, be true, stay on the path, be honest with yourself and your brothers and all those hurts, habits, and hangups will be overcome.
We need to be authentic with others so they can see the way, the truth, and the life in us.........and that authenticity will turn hearts.
